Nowadays, it is very common to see perfect marriages between watches and automobiles. And these marriages are tilted in the direction of the watch manufacturers that need to express the mutual value of the relationships. There lots of cases that watch makers launch exclusive watches for certain automobile brands or specific car models. But cases in the reverse are very rare. One case I know it that the launch of the new Parmigiani watch will be accompanied by a new Bugatti Galibie. However, we do not have any watch branded cars. And I think a car having a branded clock will top at the most uncommon thing in the watch and automobile world.

It is reported that French watch maker Bell & Ross has worked with French car marker to install
a Bell & Ross concept clock inside the the Peugeot SR1 concept. It is a very cool idea to match masculine roadster with an aggressive clock which is based on Bell & Ross's BR01 Pro models. The clock has some intriguing features. For example, the dial, milled from solid piece of metal, has special texture like fingerprints. And there is a power reserve indicator on the dial as well, which indicates that the clock is powered be a mechanical movement. So it is probable that the clock need to be hand-winded or there is an specific mechanism in the car that winds the clock.

What is more, Bel & Ross has launched the pictures of the SRL Peugeot Concept Wrist Watch for lovers of both brands. The watch, in my opinion, will be launched as a limited edition. I am waiting for Geneva Auto Show where the Peugeot SR1 with Bel & Ross concept clock will make its debut.

Buying a second hand vehicle is an operation fraught with opportunities for heartache. No matter what the thing looks like when it's viewed, it invariably ends up clanking, leaking and blowing gaskets all the way to an expensive garage bill. Unless, of course, one buys from a reputable dealer – and purchases something reliable, like a second hand Peugeot car.

"Buyer Beware", they say – and anyone buying vehicles privately should do just that. If a vehicle bought from a private seller goes wrong, there is no legal protection for the buyer and no chance of getting any money back. The only sensible way to buy second hand vehicles including Peugeot car is to go to a recognised dealer – like the Dickens group, for example – where full service histories and warranties combine with the Trade Descriptions Act to ensure a proper level of buyer protection.

It's a good idea to go for a make that is frequently seen on British roads – like the Peugeot car, which is fast becoming one of the most popular family hatchbacks in the business. Buying a car seen often on UK roads means buying into a make for which there will be cheap and plentiful spare parts – not to mention hundreds of garages that have plenty of experience fixing the things. The modern Peugeot, in addition to being reliable (and having spare parts that are a lot easier to find than they used to be), is trendy, chic and excellent value for money. Routinely voted amongst the best hatchbacks of any given year by the trade magazines, the Peugeot car range offers sensible travel for young parents; nippy travel for the hot hatch market; and even executive cool for the emerging "affordable exec" buyer.

Peugeot have developed a habit, recently, of releasing special editions of their most popular vehicles. That's great news for the second hand buyer, for two reasons: first, because the rash of new special editions means a lot of Peugeot owners are trading in their "non special edition" models for upgrades; and second, because the older special editions (those from two or three years ago) are now starting to appear on second hand forecourts. The Peugeot car done as a special edition often has racier body lines, stylish interior decoration and even improved performance – so watch out for them, when looking around for a used one.

Peugeot family cars bring a touch of French style (and we all know how cool that is) to the Mum, Dad and several kids transporter. Peugeot are famous for taking the insides of their vehicles as seriously as the outside – that translates, when it's done in a family car, to reams of ingenious ideas for space use, versatility and durability. Even a family on a budget can afford to drive away with something perfect (and, with the rash of special editions taking the attention of the new car buyer, not very old) when they turn to the Peugeot car market for their vehicle.

It could be the style; it could be the value; or it could be the versatility. Most likely, it's all three. Peugeots make a great looking, hugely reliable buy for every wallet – second hand or brand spanking new.

Dickens group is a good place to search for new and used cars of Vauxhall and Peugeot make in the UK. The Peugeot car range offers sensible travel for young parents; nippy travel for the hot hatch market; and even executive cool for the emerging "affordable exec" buyer.
Salamander Cookshop recently featured their Peugeot Mills in the March Issue of Country Homes and Interiors.

We thought we would give you a quick overview on why we like them so much! Peugeot believe in the quality of their products so much that every pepper mill comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Peugeot has been making pepper mills and coffee mills since the 19th Century. And for those of you who were wondering - yes it is the same brand that makes the cars!

The Peugeot family (namely the two brothers) used their family mills to produce steel related products like tools, steel blades, knives and of course mills. The Peugeot brothers did not start making cars until the end of the 19th Century.

Today, Peugeot Mills are renowned for being the best pepper mills in the world. The brand symbol of the Lion symbolises the qualities of Peugeot utensils: the strength of the teeth, the flexibility of the blades and the cutting speed. Although the Peugeot mill designs have changed and improved over the years, the mill has retained its classic qualities.

So throw out your old pepper mills and get yourself a lifetime with a lion!

Salamander Cookshop has a variety of Peugeot Mills products, view the range here: http://www.salamandercookshop.com/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=8&sort=3d

Peugeot, an automobile car major, is a famous French car manufacturing company that is loved all over the world for its outstanding cars by the people and the connoisseurs alike.

Peugeot has constantly been bringing new ideas and concepts to the fore and this is one feature its products are lapped up by the car lovers. Peugeot is known for producing sleek, aerodynamic machines that are amazingly robust. Its cars are not only fast and fuel efficient, but infact look like works of art on road.

Knowing only too well that the petroleum reserves of the world are limited and diminishing day by day, Peugeot started working on diesel electric hybrid versions long time ago. Despite being very successful in the traditional petrol and diesel cars, it knew that a day would come when alternatives to petrol cars would be in demand as the petroleum reserves of the world is depleting everyday.

Right now, Peugeot is building the latest petrol version of Peugeot RCZ, which promises to take the Peugeot cars to a new level of quality and capability. Initially proposed as a concept car in 1997, the excellent reception Peugeot RCZ got made the company serious in its production.

It is based on the mechanicals of 308 hatchbacks. It has got a much shorter wheel base with its reduced length cabin providing much room for two. Its interiors have got very good looks, tempting enough to seal the deal who fall into love with it once they drive the car.

In the context of concern for the environment, Peugeot has once again shown its ability to create new responses and adapt to its offer to meet the changing needs of the world. Recent developments in battery design have thrown up many possibilities in electric travel and with gradual replacement of Nickel Cadmium batteries by Lithium batteries, lesser recharges and greater distance covering with one recharge is now possible.

Peugeot iOn, a 100% electric car designed by Peugeot, is set to launch in 2010 and it will transform the face of electric travel forever. Need to recharge the battery has traditionally been the Achilles heel when it comes to battery operated cars, but with the introduction of lithium batteries, Peugeot iOn promises to be as comfortable as petrol cars and yet being environment friendly.

The cars' batteries can be fully charged in six hours with the option to charge it up to 80% in hour if there is a time crunch with its rapid recharge system. This characteristic enables Peugeot ion, which is a zero CO2 emission car to be as comfortable and likeable as any other petrol driven car. The car incorporates emergency call service feature, for which Peugeot is a leader in Europe.

Peugeot Citroen, Europe's second largest car maker is planning to enter the Indian market with its range of small cars and mid-segment sedans again. Peugeot is scouting for various options in India and has held negotiations with various automobile bodies like the Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures (SIAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) and various component makers from southern India. The group has 5.2% share of the global automobile market and controls 14% market share in Europe, and now looking at workable options in India. Peugeot being a French carmaker has always been known for artistic styling and brilliant attention to details.

The company was present during the Auto Expo recently held at New Delhi in January to take a close look and study the vibrant Indian automobile industry, but they did not displayed any of their products. The biggest names in the global business are already here and others like Volkswagen and Nissan are in the queue.

Peugeot has spilled its bean not only in developed countries but also in countries like Iran, South Africa and China in recent years. Not to mention, how huge is its emergence in these countries.

The French car maker comeback into Indian market may prove to be a success. Time to tango! Peugeot’s joint venture with the age old Doshi family, the makers of Premier Padmini, in 1995 to make the Peugeot 309 range of vehicles in India.

Well… though the car was quite capable and best for Indian conditions, Doshis couldn’t sustain the French friendship, the venture stint was for less than three year. The reasons for this were labour trouble, plant lockout and shortage of kits. That was the end of mid-segment sedan Peugeot 309 and finally a showdown of the plant after a legal battle with the Indian partner Doshis. The company was among the earliest multinationals to enter the country in 1993-94 and the first to shut down in 1997.

Out of its international lineup, the Peugeot 107 mini hatchback, 206 and 207 hatches seem like possible prospects for India along with the 407 sedan.

Peugeot of France Peppermills

An overview of Peugeot of France

Despite the fact that Peugeot of France didnt begin manufacturing automobiles until 1890, they were founded 80 years before that when the Peugeot brothers took over the family mill in 1810, converting it into a steel production facility. Since that point in time they have manufactured all types of products besides the later introduced automobile. This includes penny-farthing bicycles, saw blades, sewing machines, and other tools which is testament to the diversity of this company.

Today, they have also become the recognized name with their milling products (coffee, pepper, and salt mills) and their peppermills are no exception to that rule of recognition. The mechanism for grinding and milling originated in 1842 when one of the companys head engineers designed a milling mechanism specifically designed to grind and mill peppercorns, not being suitable for grinding and milling spices.

Additionally, these peppermills are adjustable so that you can achieve cracked peppercorns as well as course or fine grind black pepper. So whether you are cooking up a delicate sauce or grilling a steak, these peppermills can produce the grind to suit your specific needs. Today, Peugeot of France peppermills are revered as being the best in the world and every one of them features a manufacturers lifetime warranty. Some of the worlds leading chefs use these peppermills and tout their consistent grinding capabilities.

About the quality of these peppermills

The company has always claimed that what separates Peugeot of France peppermills from all the others on the market is their mechanism. It is constructed from hardened steel which is extremely durable and provides better long-term performance. Case-hardening techniques and a tempering process are employed in the production of these peppermills making the grinding head as durable and as hard as any ball bearing.

Peugeot of France peppermill grinding mechanisms are still manufactured with two different sized grooves one for channeling and one for grinding. The channeling grooves are the larger grooves and basically set the peppercorns up to be ground. The grinding grooves are smaller and actually perform the cracking and grinding process. Interestingly enough, the larger channeling grooves are still individually cut into the mechanism by hand, just as they have always been done since 1842.

Where the teeth of the Peugeot of France peppermill mechanism is concerned, the number of teeth on the grinding head differs from the amount found on the outer ring. The benefit to you is that you never have to worry about the peppermill locking up. This also enables producing a finer grind of pepper a luxury that most other peppermills do not feature. Additionally, it will not grind any metal with your peppercorns, another major problem with other brands of peppermills.

Finally, Peugeot of France peppermills have the most durable mechanisms of all and a proven track record to back that up. As a result, the company provides you with a manufacturers lifetime warranty on the grinding mechanism of every one of their peppermills as well as other products.

As a company van driver, you know the importance of keeping your vehicle on the road and the wheels turning. If your vehicle stops, your business stops. Forget your peugeot van service and you could let your customers down and spend days rearranging your work.

If you could avoid this, would you?

Well, just as regular maintenance of production machinery prevents breakdowns and prolongs life, regular van servicing helps keep your customers happy and extends the life of your key business asset - your van.

Servicing doesn't need to cost the earth. Now you can book a cheap van service online, so you're no longer tied to the main dealer for your company van servicing. Take one minute to read this and I'll show you an easier way for busy business people like you to arrange cheap van servicing from where you're sitting right now, without interrupting your day...

Keeping Your Fuel Costs Down

Businesses have to budget for ever increasing fuel bills, so why burn more than you have to? Leading automobile bodies advise regular vehicle servicing to maintain engine efficiency. When the engine runs efficiently and is lubricated with good quality oil, you refuel less often. Consequently you spend less on fuel each month than if your van service was overdue.

To maintain your van's fuel economy, experts advise that you book your van service at regular intervals, according to the manufacturer's schedule. Importantly, this means that, as part of the van service, the correct specification of engine oil is used.

Your van servicing costs should include an oil change and a new oil filter too. Engine oil carries away contaminants that are collected by the oil filter. This keeps the engine oil clean, so your engine operates efficiently and without excessive wear to moving parts.

Regular van servicing costs a little, but prevents expensive long term problems and can maintain a better fuel economy.

Spark plugs are another essential engine component to consider replacing when booking your van service. Your van servicing costs should not change dramatically by having this done, but your fuel economy might well increase.

Another simple way of maintaining fuel efficiency is to check tyre pressures regularly. Under-inflated tyres create more rolling resistance with the road and so use more fuel.

National van servicing network Service A Van, will collect and deliver your van free of charge from home or work. Now you can have your van serviced virtually anywhere in the country during a driver's rest day or when it's least disruptive to your business.

The cost saving on online van servicing can be up to 50 per cent, according to figures from Service A Van, meaning that any business could pay less to keep their business motoring.

Peugeot billed this new release of the popular 207 range as being the car with room for a view!

Sounds interesting but is there any truth in this? For the un-initiated, the Peugeot 207 is categorised in what they call the “Super Mini” bracket of cars and the company unveiled this estate version of the car at this years Geneva Motor show and will be making the car available on the street by early 2008.

The new 207 SW Outdoor actually stands 20mm higher off the ground than the standard 207 SW and remains a front wheel drive as opposed to 4WD but probably won't cost much more than the basic hatchback, and it is reckoned that prices should start round about the £11,500 ($23,000) mark.

When you think of it this is probably about £700 ($1400) more than the conventional supermini and actually represents I think quite good value for money. As has been mentioned the supermini is a fast growing class of car where the end user actually gets the performance and economy of the small compact Mini type of car with the value and additional extras of the traditional family saloon and priced somewhere in between.

So let's take a look at the 207 SW Outdoor in brief detail.

Well first of all, the engine is a 1.6L 4cylinder. This provides 110 bhp and has a top speed estimated in the region of 121 miles an hour. The transmission system is a five speed manual with front wheel drive.

Standard equipment that comes with the car consists of driver and passenger air bags, air-conditioning, front electric windows and a versatile interior with a split folding rear seat that is controlled by a one touch lever.

The SW outdoor has a practical design and continues the sculpted theme and design of the mainstream 207. The rear end of the car is actually cleaner and much less complicated than the normal hatchbacks and some of the details such as triangular rear windows and gills around taillights make the back of the car almost as good to look at as the front.

The wheelbase of the SW Outdoor is virtually identical to that of the conventional five door version of the kill but the engineers have been working away like mad to give the car much more capacity in the boot. Not only that but through a fairly novel control system the back seat has been a tactic so that it splits and is controlled via a one touch lever system.

This loss fact alone actually is a godsend if you have to transport medium sized items around from home to any number of locations. Let's be honest who doesn't nowadays and for any musicians who wish to get one of these cars you can be satisfied with the fact that you can get a good-sized drum kit and all the trappings quite comfortably stored within the car.

The performance of the car on the road as has been mentioned is quite responsive but the ride quality of the caw is slightly affected by the longer springs and dampers which raised the car by 20mm.

Peugeot promised drivers that this car would be slightly better looking than the conventional hatchback with more importantly a much more spacious boot and a better and more comfortably developed interior.

They appear to have delivered on everything they have promised.

Like you, we understand that one white van isn't the same as the next. With so many variations available, the van you choose should be closely matched to your profession. Here's a short selection of some of the most popular Peugeot vans we service and some snippets of what Peugeot says about them.

What Peugeot say about the Boxer van:

"Peugeot say that the Boxer range of vans have been totally redesigned with a range of models, available in different heights and lengths, plus a choice of three different HDi diesel engines. The Boxer is available in a number of configurations including panel vans, window vans, floor cabs and chassis with single or crewcab. The Boxer range comprises four models: 330, 333, 335 and 435 with a gross vehicle weight of 3.0 tonnes, 3.3 tonnes or 3.5 tonnes."

Main Dealer Service Vs National Van Servicing Network

When you choose your Peugeot van also take into account the servicing costs. Did you know that you no longer have to accept main dealer van service prices?

In October 2003 European new legislation affecting the motor industry came into force called "Block Exemption Regulation" 14002002 (BER). The new law now allows everyone the freedom to service a van away from the main dealers, and still have their warranty protected.

This gives you the freedom to shop around and take advantage of national van servicing networks such as Service A Van, who will service your van according to the manufacturer's service schedule, stamp your service book just as a main dealer can and could save you up to 50% off main dealer servicing costs.

As well as giving you access to cheap Peugeot van servicing online, Service A Van will collect and deliver your van free of charge from home or work or virtually anywhere in the country, at a time to suit you. You might even be on a job and having your van collected and serviced at the same time.

The French have long been regarded as the leaders in style, and this reputation is well justified in the Peugeot 206cc (coupe cabriolet).

The Peugeot 206cc is virtually two cars in one. In the winter or the rain it is a cosy European hardtop that is guaranteed to keep the wet weather and bitter cold out. When the clouds and cold air give way to sunshine and warm breezes, then it becomes a stylish, open cabriolet, perfect for driving down to the beach, or to your favourite cafe for brunch.

The Peugeot 206cc offers a 1.6 litre engine and a 2.0 litre engine model. The 1.6 litre in the base model lacks power, so if you're looking for a good used one owner Peugeot 206cc, then it will be definitely worth your while going for the 2.0 litre model, which offers a far more responsive drive. The 2.0 litre model comes in a 5 speed manual only while the 1.6 litre is available in both 5 speed manual or automatic tiptronic versions.

The folding metal roof of the Peugeot 206cc makes this car much more versatile than other soft tops as it is a true hardtop with the roof up. When the roof is down, you'll feel the exhilaration of true open car driving but one thing you will have to take into account is that the car loses some of its rigidity when the metal roof is folded down. So, be prepared for a drop in handling ability when you're enjoying the fresh air with the roof hidden in the boot. For driving about town and in the traffic, this loss of handling ability will probably not matter much however out on the open winding road, you will have to be more careful in the way that you drive the car.

On the inside, you'll be kept comfortable with the climate control air conditioning, remote control CD audio system, power windows and power mirrors. For the safety conscious, the Peugeot 206cc comes with ABS, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist. There's also four airbags to protect both driver and passenger in the event of a collision.

The Peugeot 206cc has been available in Australia since 2002 so there should be some good quality used vehicles available. As mentioned, try to go for the 2.0 litre if you can as the 1.6 litre is a little too slow and will not be as desirable for others when it comes time for you to upgrade. If you want a smart little car that provides fun, open air driving in the summer, combined with the extra safety and cosiness offered by a hardtop, then a Peugeot 206cc may be worth a look.

Peugeot is a name that has been around since the 1800’s and has always signified superior quality products and craftsmanship. Peugeot is know for many fine products ranging from cars, coffee mills, washing machines, pepper mills, to wine accessories and more. The evolution of Peugeot started with brothers Jean Pierre and Jean Frederic Peugeot converting an inherited mill into a steel foundry. Thus starting the production of fine steel products that would eventually become the grinding mechanisms in their pepper and salt mills, spice grinders, and coffee mills.

Many different types of spices have caused the development of different grinding mechanisms for each one. These different mechanisms make it possible to get the most out of spices, aromas, and flavors. Of course all of Peugeot’s grinding mechanisms are designed to withstand wear and corrosion. Groves on the grinding mechanism are individually cut into the metal and then case hardened, making them practically indestructible.

Pepper mechanisms have a 2-stage channel and grinding process, which cracks the peppercorn before grinding. The shape of the double row of helicoid teeth enables the fineness of the grind to be adjusted by turning the button on the top of the mill. By adjusting the button at the top you will go from ground pepper to powdered pepper.

Salt mechanisms are designed to grind coarse, dry sea salt. The stainless steel mechanisms are treated to prevent salt corrosion. Only Peugeot has manufactured mills in this manner and are recognized as the best in the world.

Mechanisms for wet sea salt have been specifically designed for Guerande salt. Despite the sea salts high degree of humidity, a spiral shaft prevents the salt form becoming compressed. The spiral shaft guides the wet salt crystals towards the mechanism for grinding. The grinding mechanism is made of composite materials, which are not prone to saline corrosion.

Spice mechanisms are made of an exclusive material that outperforms and is less fragile then ceramic. The specific shape of this grinding mechanism helps avoid friction and is perfect for dried herbs and spices.

The nutmeg mechanism has double stainless steel blades that shave and cut the nutmeg. This process releases the nutmegs fresh aroma and enables the whole nutmeg to be grated very finely.

The chili mechanism has an exclusive patented pre-chopping system, which enables dry chili to be ground. This chili mechanism is exclusive to Peugeot only.

Coffee mechanisms have an adjustable grind for fine to coarse grounds. The old-style coffee grinder is fitted with a crank handle and a little drawer to collect the ground coffee.

Peugeot’s latest technology in salt and pepper grinding mechanisms is the u’Select. The u’Select pepper grinder has 6 different setting and the salt grinder has 3 different settings. These salt and pepper mills are precise and easy to use.

Not only does Peugeot offer the highest quality grinding mechanisms, they are also classy and beautifully crafted. You can choose from classic wood, lacquered wood, electric, stainless steel, transparent acrylic, or a combination of these materials together. Any of these mills will complement your dinning room and spice your food to perfection.

If you are looking for a small family car then chances are you will have been to the local car dealership to look at the latest offerings from Peugeot and Vauxhall. Both manufacturers have a long history of providing reliable vehicles to this segment of the market. The new Peugeot 308 and new Vauxhall Astra have built upon past success. So is it worth going new or should you opt for a used version of these classics?

The Peugeot 308

In September 2007 Peugeot released the Peugeot 308 under the tagline 'The drive of your life'. It was built on the success of its predecessor the 307. The designers have managed to incorporate high standards of safety equipment and excellent road handling into the new model. It provides a spacious interior and greater carrying capacity which can be expanded to 1,398 litres when the seats are folded. The Peugeot 308 boasts class leading aerodynamics that helps reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The 1.4 VTi 95bhp with 5-spd manual gearbox retails at Peugeot dealers in the UK from GBP11995. The 1.6 HDi 90 bhp 5-spd manual gearbox can cost as little as GBP13295. The car performs well with the 1.6 THP 150 bhp version reaching 0-60 mph in just 8.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 132 mph. The 1.6 HDi 110 bhp version boasts 60.1 miles per gallon consumption rate.

Vauxhall Astra

Designed to 'match the energy of your life' the Vauxhall Astra provides innovative features to provide flexible space alongside safety and security. The Astra comes with twin front airbags, front seat side impact airbags, Anti-locking breaking system (ABS) and Electro-Hydraulic Power-assisted Steering. The Astra provides a flexible 60/40 or 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat and a vertical load restraining net to help maximise the spacious interior. The 1.4i 16v Manual can be purchased for as little as GBP12915 with the 1.3CDTi 16v (90PS) Manual diesel retailing from GBP14500 at Vauxhall dealerships. The Vauxhall Astra Hatchback 1.6 16v 115 Life 5dr can achieve 0-60 in 11.5 seconds and has a maximum speed of 115 mph. It has a four star rating from What car?

A new car will benefit from your exact specifications and buying new can be extremely fulfilling. It is however worth considering that depreciation is the biggest cost when running a car. It may be worth buying a used vehicle. The biggest drop in value happens within the first 12 months and you can save a lot of money buying second hand. This might not mean you have to miss out on a warranty with many reputable dealers offering 12 months on used vehicles and there is always the option to take out your own policy with an independent provider. But the main benefit to a used vehicle is the price. Here is a brief introduction to the used versions of the Peugeot and Vauxhall small family cars.

Peugeot 307 (2001-)

The Peugeot 307 benefits from a stylish design and is packed full of safety equipment. Criticisms have been made of the cars handling and it also has one of the smaller rear spaces on the market. The used version has demonstrated some problems with the suspension and head gasket so it is beneficial to expect and scrutinise service history. There are so many on the market that they can be picked up for as little as GBP2595 to GBP12570 and can provide you with a bargain.

Vauxhall Astra (2004-)

The used Vauxhall Astra from the same supple ride composed handling and strong engine as its younger sibling. It is important to check for signs of crash damage and uneven tyre wear. It is advisable to shop around to make sure you find the right one for you and to expect a full service history. It is a very reliable vehicle made popular because of a reputation for its tough durable motor and therefore represents a good option for buying used. It is the fifth choice in what car? recommended used car buying guide. It will set you back between GBP5435 and GBP11720.

The Peugeot Company, started by the Peugeot family originally began its life as an ironmonger. Instead of cars the main items manufactured were coffee grinders and bicycles. It was not until 1876 that the company first started to make cars for the French public. The first cars were steam driven although in later years, with the help of Daimler; the internal combustion engine was adopted as the preferred means of propulsion.

In 1891 the first of these petrol driven cars was driven from Beaulieu-Valentigney to Paris and then onto Brest. The acclaim gained for this amazing feat cemented the car in the hearts of the French public and as a result the company sold three hundred cars in 1899, a marked improvement on the five sold in 1891. The range was further improved when the steering tiller was replaced with the wheel and electric ignition systems were added in 1902.

Development naturally continued in the 1910's when Peugeot once again entered the world of motor sport. With the help of Ettore Bugatti the cars were further improved with stylistic design and an engine that produced an impressive ten horsepower. Examples of these models can still be seen today in the French National Automobile Museum located in the town of Mulhouse.

After the First World War Peugeot steamed ahead with production, producing their one hundred thousandth car in 1925, the cars of this era predominantly had three cylinder engines although at this time the company were experimenting with two stroke diesel models. Strangely in 1926 cars were produced for the first time with front brakes, previously cars had only had braking systems in the rear. During the late twenties Peugeot even released a sports car using a six cylinder Bugatti engine that had been supercharged.

The thirties saw Peugeot produce the first ever electrically retractable roof, a development that the company is still proud of. During the war the company also produced an electric car named the VLV Electrique. After the war the company was also one of the first to re-establish production lines selling almost fourteen thousand model 202's in 1946. During the fifties Peugeot still managed to dominate the European markets. In 1955 the model 403 was the first car ever to break the one million units produced mark. Also during this decade the company entered the American car market.

The sixties and seventies were a seminal period for the company. The release of the Pininfarina designed 404 dawned a period of success all over the world in terms of sales as well as success in the Safari Rally. This period also saw Peugeot produce its five millionth car. The company managers also decided to expand in this period, taking over rival manufacturer Citroen in 1975 thanks to the financial assistance offered by the French government. The new company was labelled PSA although this was purely a parent company as both members of the group wanted to keep the identities of the two brands distinctly separate. The expansion however did not stop there; the company launched a successful bid to take over the European division of Chrysler in 1978.

This expansion meant that the company has overstretched itself and the early eighties were a time of financial uncertainty for PSA. Thankfully, the release of the immensely popular 205 in 1983 meant that the company was able to revive its fortunes and carry on producing distinctly French cars. Today, despite having to close the Coventry factory the company is still striving to produce cars that have a French nature and are popular with drivers of all ages. The motoring giant may be far removed from its humble coffee grinding heritage, but the traditions of this family company have not been forgotten.

What is Peugeot Leasing?

The Peugeot Leasing Open Europe program is an incentive set up by the French Government. French residents pay a high tax on a brand new car, tourists outside of the EU do not. So, the French Government have allowed their car companies to sell new cars to tourists (non EU residents) in the form of a lease, buy it back from them when their travels are complete then sell it off to a new owner for less. Everybody wins. As a traveller you get a brand new car for the period of your lease and the buyer gets a slightly older car for less money.

What's the difference between Leasing and Renting?

With Leasing, you get a brand new Peugeot car for the duration and you get to choose the exact model. There is a minimum lease period of 17 days and maximum lease of 175 days. The rate you pay for a Peugeot Lease is fully inclusive so there is no more to pay when you pick up the car. The minimum age for a Peugeot Lease is18, unlike standard car hire where it is normally 23. The main difference with a lease is that you essentially buy the car so you are the temporary owner for the lease period.

What's the benefits of Peugeot Leasing?

· You get a brand new Peugeot model.
· You choose your car.
· It’s tax free.
· It’s economical (see blog Save with a Peugeot Lease).
· Rates are fully inclusive.
· No excess to pay.
· Free additional drivers.
· Minimum age is 18 years old. (Must have a full license)
· No maximum age.
· 24/7 roadside assistance while in Europe.
· Pick up and drop off at 40 locations in France for FREE.
· Pick up in 13 other European cities.
· Drive into most of Eastern Europe is permitted.
· Unlimited Kilometres: Drive as much as you want!

Can anyone lease a Peugeot?

(Australia Only:)To qualify for a Lease you must be an Australian resident, reside outside of the EU and not work while you are in Europe – so no working holiday visas for example. You must not stay in Europe for more than 185 days in any 12 month period. You must also be at least 18 years old with a full license.
